Jill Scott was born on April 4, 1972, in Philadelphia Pennsylvania to her mother Joyce Scott. The family was dominated by her grandmother, and she was an only child. Scott studied at her school, the Philadelphia High School for Girls. After graduating her school, she went to Temple University. She took secondary school classes her time at Temple University while working on two other jobs. She hoped to be a high school English teacher.
